Online Parent Support Group (for decreasing parental accommodations for OCD and anxiety treatment)
2SLGBTQ+ Wellness Group
In this group, you will slowly find our way back into your body by connecting with your felt sense – what we notice inside of us when we pay attention to our inner experience. A felt sense can be a sensation like pain, tension or ease, an image or memory, a sound or movement, an urge to do something, feelings and/or words/meaning-making.
You will learn about settling and grounding your nervous system and how to accompany your felt sense with curiosity and compassion. This will be through experiential exercises with a sprinkling of neurobiology (information about our brains and nervous systems) to support your learning.
Our well-being is also about our longings and dreams for belonging, safety and dignity for all people, land and life. You will be invited to listen for your embodied knowing about ways to move towards more justice and liberation for ourselves and collectively. Relational tools for a greater sense of safety and self-worth inside and outside our group will also be offered.
This will be an online group with 6 sessions, 1.25 hour each. We will meet Mondays at 6:30 PST beginning March 24, 2025.
$360 for 6 weeks ($60/session)
Online Parent Support Group (decreasing parental accommodation for OCD and anxiety treatment)
An important part of anxiety and OCD treatments, like the SPACE program, is decreasing accommodations like providing reassurance, participating in compulsions like hand-washing and doing things for our child so that they can avoid exposures.
When parents decrease accommodations for anxiety and OCD, our children can have big reactions, making it difficult for our own brains and nervous systems. We can feel overwhelmed and find putting down the ping-pong paddle (disengaging from arguments) and maintaining changes in accommodations challenging.
In this compassionate and non-judgemental space, you will learn about:
- embodied practices for settling your brain and nervous system’s stress response
- accompanying your feelings of fear, overwhelm, guilt and frustration with compassion through experiential exercises
- steps to establish and follow-through on changes to accommodations
